Scots Irish (Ulster Scots) Connections
This tour may be of particular interest to those interested in genealogy, and retracing their Ulster and Irish roots.
As my surname Douglas suggests, my ancestors were probably lowland Scots who came over to the area in the late 1600's/early 1700's as I have found records of them being tenant farmers on the outskirts of the city in the mid 1700's. Accordingly, I have been fascinated in their history, and in late Feb 2020, just before the first covid lockdown, I launched my Scots Irish/Ulster Scots Connections of the City tour.
This tour tells about the relationship between Scotland and Ireland, of the many emigations and immigrations that took place over the ages, before the more organised "Plantation of Ulster" in the early 1600's.
